It’s been a while since I’ve been here….typing away about
mostly mindless stuff. I’ve missed it
and it’s probably too much to hope for that you’ve missed it too. One can dream.
I have been busy. Really.
We left Farmville in May and moved back into our home in
Elizabeth City. It took a much larger
than expected U-Haul truck. We were simply
astounded at the quantity of stuff we had accumulated in a mere two years. One week after landing in EC while still
stepping around and over mountains of boxes, we took off with eight friends for
a boating adventure in the south of France.
George and I spent three days exploring Barcelona before we met up with
the group in France on the Canal du Midi, and then topped off our vacation with
three days in Paris. It was one of those
once-in-a-lifetime-trips.
Back in the groove of
being home, we remodeled our bedroom,
sailed the Applejack as often as we could, picked buckets of blueberries and
spent time with Kate & Matt & Jenny. We cranked up two rental houses and built new
blinds for the cottage.
And if that’s
not enough….George spirited me off to Boston and the Berkshires to hawk my book. What a sweetheart.
I cannot close and wrap this up without mention of our great
loss. George’s youngest brother Rusty
died in July after playing basketball with the church youth. It was his heart. Everyone is still numb with questions, disbelief
and grief. Rusty was a great guy who quietly went about his life doing for
others. We will remember him forever
with love and grateful hearts that our paths traveled together for a time.
